How to Celebrate 4th of July on Holden Beach

If you’re looking for events in town, consider Holden Beach’s Summer Concert Series, which is free and draws crowds of all ages. Pack a blanket or beach chair and get ready for an evening of incredible live music at Bridgeview Park from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. 

No Fourth of July getaway is complete without spending a day with your toes in the sand. Pack a cooler with everyone's favorite snacks, plenty of cold drinks, and maybe a few sandwiches, then settle in for a day that doesn't need much of an agenda. Build sandcastles with the kids, hunt for seashells along the shoreline, catch a few waves on a boogie board, or simply let the sound of the ocean do the rest.

The summer sun can be strong, so don't forget a little shade and plenty of sunscreen. Toss in a beach umbrella, hats, and sunglasses, and you'll be ready to enjoy every minute, from that first morning walk along the water to the last golden rays before heading home for the evening.

It's the kind of outing where dolphins sometimes make an appearance, the breeze does all the work, and the best memories happen between destinations.

If you're ready to get out on the water, the Holden Beach Marina offers boat rentals for just about every kind of adventure. Gather the family on a pontoon for an easy afternoon cruise, or rent a skiff if casting a line sounds more like your kind of day. Looking for a little more excitement? Hop on a jet ski from Holden Beach Marina or Holden Beach Jet Skis and let the open water add a little thrill to your vacation.

If you’re coming to Holden Beach for the 4th of July, we encourage you to have fun but celebrate responsibly! Here are a few things to keep in mind in terms of safety:

• Fireworks are prohibited - Fireworks are not allowed on Holden Beach as the island aims to protect the area’s natural ecosystem, especially the turtle population. Sparklers are allowed, however. 
• Alcohol is prohibited - Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the beach strand or in any public place.  
• Water safety - Holden Beach does not have lifeguards. Please practice these water safety tips when visiting the beach: be aware of the weather and water conditions, know how to spot and what to do when it comes to rip currents, and never swim alone. 
• Be Patient - Practice patience during the holiday week! You’re likely to encounter road traffic and longer wait times at our restaurants, shops, and local businesses during this time.
