July in Holden Beach is an exciting time, and if you plan to visit during the 4th of July, you’re in luck! Holden Beach and its neighboring towns offer a multitude of activities and events for families to enjoy, from summer concert series to brilliant firework displays. Here are some of our favorite ways to celebrate the 4th of July on Holden Beach:

Stay at One of Our Holden Beach Vacation Rentals

Our Holden Beach vacation rentals provide the ideal backdrop for the holiday festivities. Offering spacious layouts, fully-equipped kitchens, and a central location to all things Holden Beach, we are certain you’ll find the perfect accommodation for your beach adventures! Hang out with the pup in one of our dog-friendly vacation rentals or cool off from the summer heat in one of our homes with a private pool. Whether you go out and explore Holden Beach or prefer to relax in the comfort of your vacation rental, you’ll discover and feel the Hobbspitality difference. If you haven’t booked your vacation rental for the 4th of July, Hobbs Realty still has a limited selection available for the holiday week, so act fast!

Take Part in the Holiday Festivities

Put on your best red, white, and blue outfit and attend one of the many 4th of July festivities in the area! While the town of Holden Beach does not hold a fireworks display, many towns nearby, like Southport and Ocean Isle Beach, offer spectacular fireworks shows for all to enjoy.  Check out our blog for an updated list of fireworks near Holden Beach, NC

If you’re looking for events in town, consider Holden Beach’s Summer Concert Series, which is free and draws crowds of all ages. Pack a blanket or beach chair and get ready for an evening of incredible live music at Bridgeview Park from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The tentative 2025 performances taking place during the holiday week are The Extraordinaires on June 29th and The Tams on July 6th.

Beach Fun

No 4th of July trip is complete without a day on the beach! Pack a cooler with sandwiches, snacks, and plenty of water to make the most of your day. From building sandcastles to beachcombing and boogie boarding to swimming, there are several activities you can squeeze in with a day on the beach. You’ll want to have plenty of sun protection on hand, so make sure to bring sunscreen, an umbrella, hats, and sunglasses to avoid getting burned!

Rent a Boat

Experience Holden Beach like a local by cruising the waters of the Intracoastal Waterway. The Holden Beach Marina is a full-service marina offering boat rentals. A pontoon boat is ideal for cruising with the family and friends, or if you're looking to fish while on your Holden Beach vacation, skiffs are also available. Seeking a heart-pumping adventure? Hop on a jet ski and explore the Intracoastal in style. Jet ski rentals are offered at Holden Beach Marina and Holden Beach Jet Skis

Celebrate Responsibly

If you’re coming to Holden Beach for the 4th of July, we encourage you to have fun but celebrate responsibly! Here are a few things to keep in mind in terms of safety:

  • Fireworks are prohibited - Fireworks are not allowed on Holden Beach as the island aims to protect the area’s natural ecosystem, especially the turtle population. Sparklers are allowed, however.
  • Alcohol is prohibited - Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the beach strand or in any public place.
  • Water safety - Holden Beach does not have lifeguards. Please practice these water safety tips when visiting the beach: be aware of the weather and water conditions, know how to spot and what to do when it comes to rip currents, and never swim alone.
  • Be Patient - Practice patience during the holiday week! You’re likely to encounter road traffic and longer wait times at our restaurants, shops, and local businesses during this time.
