According to American Profile Magazine, and renowned beach expert Dr. Leatherman, Holden Beach is one of the best Family Beaches in the nation.

The article asked experts Stephen P. Leatherman, better known as "Dr. Beach," and Holly A. Hughes, an experienced New York City travel writer, to list their best beaches.

Leatherman named Holden Beach, NC as the best family beach for its "'laid-back' atmosphere," and minimal traffic and crime. “When I look at the family beaches, safety is a very big issue,” Leatherman says in the article.
